You’ve made my day! Now let’s hear from Kant’s campaign: “The atheist Nietzsche is trying to subvert the minds of Americans!” “Imagine your country run by Dionysis!” “Can somebody who believes in the Uberman care about the Little Guy?”
Kant needs a better campaign manager. First thing that Nietzsche will point out is that anyone who caters to cows (”moo”) is merely appealing to herd mentality–and next, that it is udderly inappropriate for a non-consequentialist to refer to the Good of All…Keep us posted!
Don’t forget that Nietzsche is the easiest philosopher to misunderstand. Most ignore other things he wrote, such as:
The Good Four: Honest with ourselves and with whatever is friend to us; Courageous toward the enemy; Generous toward the vanquished; Polite—always. That is how the four cardinal virtues want us. (The Dawn #556)
These too were the virtues of the ubermensch.
The ubermensch must learn to be humble, that’s what I continuously try to work on. Thanks for the reminder.
