Lies, Lies, and more Lies January 23, 2008

We already know this, but its good to have it all collected in one place.

“A study by two nonprofit journalism organizations found that President Bush and top administration officials issued hundreds of false statements about the national security threat from Iraq in the two years following the 2001 terrorist attacks. The study concluded that the statements “were part of an orchestrated campaign that effectively galvanized public opinion and, in the process, led the nation to war under decidedly false pretenses.”

The deception is too widespread to be explained by the psychopathology of an individual. So what is the explanation? Could it be an ideology that needs war to sustain itself?

“The study counted 935 false statements in the two-year period.”

That is crazy. Yet, I suppose the silver lining to this is that the ’08 candidates are pressed to campaign truth and honesty, above all else. Here’s to hoping that their sentiments last beyond the hustings.

It’s been a long time since I’ve cared about the State of the Union address, and even longer since I’ve believed it. Many share this perspective, however, things will be reversed soon…

That said, here is a great “Candidate Calculator” for those interested in double-checking their allegiances:

Don’t trust the studies above at all. Sure there have been many false allegations by the 10’s of thousands by the administration and DA’s offices and governmental entities seeking justice. Somebody will be blamed in this and every other country. Scapegoats are a valuable commodity. But who knew they were false statements or allegations when they made them– I assert few are that smart or dumb as the case may be. After 9-11 naturally paranoia would be the normal state of mind with rampant BS no matter who was in power. Criticism is usually done by fools. Those who know what to do, do it.

I very much doubt that little if any of this was planned. Like usual, incompetence runs wild when your pants are down like the US during 9/11. If you’re going to blame anybody, blame the terrorists. The administration, like most, abounded with incompetent actions and misguided intensions– like most others in all countries around the world. Blame human imperfection. Need more money for what you perceive to be National security, just keep feers alive.
